Walker Lake Golf Club At The Depot

One of Nevada's nine-hole treasures is tucked away on the northern outskirts of the town of Hawthorne that once was the headquarters for the US Navy Ammunition Depot. Now known as the Hawthorne Army Depot, the base is home to a surprisingly incredible golf course that is open to the public. The beautiful course was built by base employees several holes at a time and today offers a cool green paradise that will delight golfers of all skill sets. The lush fairways and elevated, emerald greens are lined with towering cedars and cottonwoods that make walking the impeccably-maintained course a thorough pleasure. The challenging Walker Lake golf course has no water features, but several deep sand traps call for accurate shot-making skills. The thoughtfully designed course poses a definite challenge while still being player-friendly. It's also inexpensive and best of all, uncrowded. A round here is one golfers won’t soon forget.

The thoroughly enjoyable experience at Walker Lake Golf Club continues with the nicely conditioned practice facilities, which include a driving range and putting and chipping greens. Lessons are available from the club pro. The friendly clubhouse is home to a small pro shop that offers rental clubs, as well as a popular bar.
